Lena & Andy - on the birth of Orla
"Andy and I could not recommend this course, and doing it with Leigh, highly enough. Friends and family thought we were daft, with truly unrealistic expectations of what birthing would be like and we proved them all wrong!. Andy himself would be the first to admit he had a healthy dose of cynicism about it but was won over by the whole experience. Hypnobirthing is one of the most positive, amazing things we have ever done and it gave us exactly the birth we'd hoped, planned and worked for.
We first explored hypnobirthing after a colleague suggested it and quickly came across Leigh's website. Leigh could not have been more welcoming from the outset and she remained calm, encouraging and endlessly patient throughout our time with her.
Hypnobirthing gives you another perspective on giving birth; a calm, peaceful, positive and entirely achievable one. The classes were a great experience that opened up discussion between us, not just about our hopes for the birth but also for the pregnancy and our baby's future.
Orla arrived on exactly the day we'd asked for - there is a birth rehearsal CD that suggests you pick a date and I can honestly say, it really works! My waters broke around 11pm, we stayed at home playing backgammon and chilling out until about 5am and I was in the pool, as planned, by 6am. The CDs and other techniques introduced during our classes ensured a relaxed birthing where we felt absolutely in control. Our midwives were very supportive and impressed with us.
Orla is a very content wee thing, she rarely cries, settles easily and has slept through the night from 8.5 weeks - and I really mean through the night, consistenly from 8pm to 7am. I truly believe the preparation we did throughout our pregnancy and her actual birthing have helped ensure this.
Hypnobirthing is a truly unique experience, an absolute joy to take part in and it is immensely rewarding to bring your baby into the world naturally."
Lucy & Stephen - on the birth of Murray
"We want to say a big thank you to you for all your help and support during Lucy's pregnancy. After attending the generic ante-natal classes we felt that we were still unsure about what to expect during the birth so decided to look into hypnobirthing, and are so glad that we did. Leigh gave us so much information about the birth and techniques to use that we went from dreading the birth to actually looking forward to it!
We both looked forward to the hypnobirthing classes each week and enjoyed practising the relaxation techniques at home. By the end of the course we were both feeling confident, knew what to expect and Lucy was actually looking forward to the birth to put into practice what she had learnt! When baby Murray was born Lucy remained relaxed and in control throughout the birth (without the need for any drugs) and Stephen was able to play an active role in the birth; the midwives were surprised at how calm and confident Lucy was and allowed the birth to progress with minimal intervention.
By the end of the labour Lucy was still full of energy and many people remarked at how well she looked and that she didn't look like she had even been in labour. By the time Murray arrived all three of us were calm, relaxed and ready to start life as a family."
Donna & Frank - on the birth of Lily
''Speaking as first time parents, Hypnobirthing for my partner and I was so much more than we expected. It was an invaluable tool to help us make key decisions about the birth and what to expect (Vitamin K, Synthetic Hormones etc.) but most importantly it taught us both, through practise, how to relax and take control of our birth. From a fathers perspective I can honestly say it created a special bond between all three of us before Lily was even born and I really felt a part of the whole pregnancy and birth. I cannot thank Leigh enough, she gave me and my partner and I quote, '' The most beautiful hospital birth I have ever been a part of'' Julie Midwife Crosshouse Hospital and all three of us couldn't agree more.''
